Chael Sonnen Defends Conor McGregor’s (Possible) PED Use: “They’re Not Banned In The Sport”

Conor McGregor has put on a considerable amount of muscle after suffering a leg injury during his fight against Dustin Poirier, all the way back in July 2021.

And yes – many people in the MMA community are accusing McGregor of using steroids/PEDs.
However, one of the people who’s kind of stepped in to defend “The Notorious” has been none other than Chael Sonnen.

Sonnen acknowledged that the Irishman’s physique looks bulked up and that, considering he doesn’t want to re-enter the USADA testing pool at the moment, it might very well be possible that he’s using some sort of “gear”.

But, according to Sonnen, there’s a big difference between being on steroids and being on PEDs.
He explained why in a recent video:

People are so quick to say that Conor is on steroids. And I think what they mean is PEDs.
They don’t know what he’s done, but he’s on the Performance Enhancing [Drugs].

Now, with steroids, it specifically must be an anabolic agent. And I don’t think when people look at Conor, they can prove there’s an anabolic agent.

There is a massive misunderstanding, and the media did it… They don’t know the difference.
Performance Enhancing Drugs are not banned in sport. They never have been.
