The patriarch of the Gracie family, Carlos Gracie, is about to receive a new homage in the city he called home for many years — Rio de Janeiro.
The grandmaster’s has been approved as a street name by the Walkway-Naming Committee, as reported by PVT. Now all that’s left is for the name to be recognized in the city’s official diary.
This is not the first initiative to honor a member of the Gracie family. In the past, attempts to erect statues of Carlson and Helio Gracie failed.
