Ortiz, the burglar, battled Brian Burch, a Fort Myers homeowner in a losing effort. When Ortiz broke into Birch’s home through the garage, Birch heard the noise and went toward it. Next, Birch saw Ortiz carrying his airgun case and jackhammer case. Then, Ortiz mentioned that the boss sent him over to finish a job. Birch didn’t buy that excuse and started questioning him. The questions became too much, and Ortiz ran. Birch ran behind him and unleashed his Gracie Jiu-Jitsu skills. He held him down until cops arrived. The scuffle left Ortiz with a bloody nose. Birch mentioned he trained in Jiu-Jitsu for 2 1/2 years prior to this incident, and he’s glad his children weren’t around. The neighbors are equally grateful this crook is off the streets. Ortiz is in custody facing burglary and grand theft charges.
