Two-time world black belt absolute champion Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida is training hard for the 2013 ADCC.
Yesterday, Tuesday, he met with brothers Leo and Leandro Vieira for a wrestling and no-gi BJJ session at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, Calif.
But the roll included a few other guys that are worth mentioning, as Buchecha revealed in his Twitter account: “Great training with these guys today at AKA. Josh Thomson (@therealpunk), Leo Vieira (@leovieirabjj) Luke Rockhold (@lukerockhold) and Cain Velasquez (@CainVelasquez).”
That’s right, UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was present and shared the mats with Buchecha, who explained the encounter: “I knew that Leandro was doing a great job with the BJJ training of those guys, so I decided to come here to learn a little bit.”
After the session, Buchecha had only compliments for the skills of his partners: “They are real beasts! I’m realy impressed with their skills on the ground, all of them”.
And what about a boxing practice? Was that also part of the menu for the day?
Buchecha smiled: “No! I did only wrestling and BJJ. I left boxing out this time (laughs)!”
The training sessions will go on for the entire week, Buchecha says.
