The IBJJF Pro League GP is back in 2019, and based on the first two competitors they’ve announced, we can expect a stacked heavyweight card.
Marcus “Buchecha” Almedia was the first competitor to be announced in the eight-man tournament, and two days later, Gordon Ryan has also been confirmed as one of the grapplers vying for first place. The winner of the no-gi event will take home $40,000, and the runner-up will earn $10,000.
Both Buchecha and Ryan are some of the most accomplished athletes in the sport — Buchecha holds a Guinness World Record for the highest number of world titles in jiu-jitsu, and Ryan has been on a (so far very successful) mission to win virtually every major competition in no-gi grappling.
This event will take place on August 24 this year at the Evexia Fit Fest in Las Vegas.
