Buchecha Books Next Opponent For ONE 161, Title Shot In Sight

Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida will be fighting at ONE 161 on August 26th, and his opponent brings the 13-time World Champion right into the mix of Heavyweight title contention.

Across from Buchecha will be Kirill Grishenko, the 265 lb. Belarusian who’s coming off of a loss in his fight for the Interim Heavyweight Championship. Grishenko’s loss came to the heavy handed Anatoly Malykhin in Round 2 via KO, lining up the now-interim champ for a fight against Heavyweight champ Arjan Bhullar.

If Buchecha pulls off a win against the formidable Grishenko, that should put him next in line for a shot at the title after Malykhin and Bhullar have handled their business. This trajectory would be incredibly fast, as Buchecha is still in the very early stages of his MMA career, and is already closing in on potentially becoming the Heavyweight World Champion in one of the World’s largest MMA promotions.

Buchecha’s record currently sits at 3-0, and he’s been fighting MMA under the ONE banner since September of 2021. None of his fights have yet to last more than 1 round, and his last performance was a fast and efficient TKO victory over Simon Carson.

Buchecha vs. Grishenko is just one of many exciting match-ups lined up for ONE 161, including the Main Event between Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson in their rematch for the Flyweight World Championship.

It all happens on August 26 at ONE 161, available on watch.onefc.com.
