Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor Shatters White Belt’s Jaw For ‘Slacking Off’, Gets Two Years In Prison

Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor Sergio Robalo has been jailed for two years after he shattered his white belt student’s jaw back in 2013.

Robalo’s reason? He believed the student was “slacking off” according to Britain’s Daily Mail.

The victim, Graham Jenkins, had previously taken ten days off of jiu-jitsu for “family bereavement.” When he returned, he became tired easily after a roll. He even deliberately lost a match just so he could sit out.

Robalo did not like this one bit. He demanded that Jenkins roll with him. The instructor then refused to let go, even though Jenkins tapped and screamed out in pain.

After the match, Jenkins went to get changed back into his street clothes. That’s when Robalo punched him in the face, fracturing the white belt’s jaw in two places. Doctors would later have to put metal plates in it.

Robalo pled guilty to grievous bodily harm at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. He was sentenced to two years in prison.

The two years will be added to a seven-and-a-half year sentence he received back in 2016 for a robbery he committed back in his homeland, Portugal.

We’re not quite sure why an incident that happened five years ago is getting brought up in court now or why a man, who was sentenced for charges of armed robbery in Portugal, was in England.
