The recent wildfires in California have claimed six lives and over a thousand homes, and among those whose lives have been changed by the fires are the Bradford family.
Chris Bradford (a BJJ black belt and judo brown belt), Antonia Bradford (a BJJ blue belt), and their five children all train jiu-jitsu at Kaijin MMA in Scotts Valley, CA, and they were recently left homeless after one of the Santa Cruz fires consumed their house and virtually everything they own. Denise Henry, who told the Jiu-Jitsu Times that she coached the Bradford children for several years, says that the family “literally escaped with the clothes on their back,” and she’s now hoping to rally the BJJ community to send gently used clothes, shoes, and training gear to help them get back on their feet.
Henry shared the following size chart for anyone who wishes to make clothing or gear donations for the family, which can be sent to

Though the trauma this family and countless others have faced due to the fires will stay with them, hopefully our community can come together to make this difficult time just a bit easier for them. Please donate if you can, and share this family’s story so that others can help them in their time of need.
