Bia Mesquita To Make MMA Debut – Signs Contract With First Round Management

Beatriz ‘Bia’ Mesquita announced on April 7, 2023 that she has signed a contract to be represented by First Round Management and would be making her MMA debut shortly.

Bia Mesquita, otherwise known as the ‘BJJ Lady Goat’ is an overwhelmingly accomplished athlete in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, having won an unreal 10 IBJJF World Championship titles (eight in her weight category, and two in the absolute division), as well as five IBJJF No-Gi World Championship gold medals and an ADCC world championship title back in 2017.

The black belt under Leticia Ribeiro has won more gold medals at the IBJJF World Championships than any other woman and only one man has won more than her – Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida’. Mesquita did try to repeat that feat at ADCC 2022 but unfortunately she had to settle for a bronze medal in the her weight division (under 60kg) after getting beat by the eventual champion Ffion Davies in the semi-final.

Having completed pretty much every single professional grappling accomplishment at the highest level and smashed it, there’s not much left for Mesquita, so MMA is a bold but inspiring move; new challenges and new goals to be accomplished. The BJJ Lady Goat has also been preparing for her MMA debut for quite some time now and her signing with a management label shows her solidifying her new venture. Bia hasn’t publicly confirmed which promotion she will be fighting for yet, although with a background of grappling accomplishments as mind blowing as hers, she will undoubtedly receive offers from several major organizations who would love to represent her.
