For a while, nobody knew whether Benson Henderson would re-sign with the UFC. He then jumped ship over to Bellator MMA but made sure to thank Dana White and his former promotion. Henderson is a former UFC Lightweight champion. Apparently, the UFC offered him a contract that would pay well if he reclaimed the belt. Bellator turned around and gave him a deal that was sweeter upfront. There’s no shame in following the guaranteed money.
According to ESPN Henderson gets immediate Bellator MMA title shot on April 22nd. He’ll fight for the Welterweight championship against Andrey Koreshkov at Bellator 153. In Connecticut, both men will seek to extend winning streaks. Henderson is a talented fighter, and a welterweight bout will challenge his abilities. An immediate title shot is not something to take for granted. By winning the match, Henderson would become a big name in Bellator in no time.
