Celebrity Chef and CNN Parts Unknown Host Anthony Bourdain hits Lincoln Square jiu jitsu academy for a workout on the mats on the last stop of his “Close to the Bone” speaking tour. Bourdain, a white belt in jiu jitsu, started participating in the sport at the behest of his wife, Ottavia, and eventually became enthusiastic about it, visiting jiu jitsu schools everywhere he travels. He noted that an upcoming episode of his CNN show focusing on San Francisco will feature some jiu jitsu action. The visit to the northside Chicago Team Redzovic club was part of Bourdain’s regular need to feed the mental and physical enjoyment he gets from the sport.
Bourdain also talks Chicago food and restaurants when he is in the Windy City, noting an affinity for Italian beef sandwiches and stating that Chicago hot dogs are the best in the nation, while also calling the city a powerhouse food destination. for more info: dnainfo
