The jiu-jitsu community is coming together to help a woman who has stabbed 34 times by her husband.
Cassidy Foster is a two-stripe blue belt and stay-at-home mom who is working on becoming a personal trainer.
However, shortly after Christmas, she experienced a horror no one should have to experience.
Cassidy’s husband, seemingly for no reason, repeatedly stabbed her.
According to her GoFundMe page:
She was awakened by her husband and after asking what he was doing standing over her he simply said, “this” and pulled a knife from behind his back and started stabbing her. Her husbands mother and fiancé were at the front door of the camper screaming for Cassidy to open the door. Cassidy fought her way to the door and was able to hit the latch just as she was falling. Before the mother in law could stop him, he jumped on Cassidy and stabbed her 3 to 4 more times and it was then the mother in law jumped on his back and had the fiancé restrain him.
Luckily, Foster will not only survive, but recover. However, she still needs help paying her bills, buying a new place to live, and buying furniture.
This is where the Brazilian jiu-jitsu community comes in. Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor Clay Mayfield and his friend, BJJ black belt, Eli Knight are putting on a seminar in order to help raise money for Cassidy.
The seminar will be going down this Sunday at 1:00pm CST at IQ Jiu-Jitsu in Benton, Illinois. However, you don’t have to be there to take part. The entire seminar can be viewed live on both Eli and Clay’s Facebook pages:
This Sunday at IQ Jiu-Jitsu, Eli Knight and I are doing a charity seminar to benefit the “Move Mountains for Cassidy”…

Clay told us that he does not know Cassidy personally, but he still wanted to get involved:
“…although we [Clay and Eli] know of her coach, neither of us personally know her,” Clay told the Jiu-Jitsu Times. “We became aware of the tragedy, and want to help in anyway that we can.”
Besides being used for a good cause, this seminar will truly be a seminar for everyone. Clay told us it will be an open-ended seminar covering common techniques. You won’t even need a training partner, as the seminar will take the form of a Q&A discussion.
So, if you’re looking to pick the minds of two high-ranking jiu-jitsu practitioners and help a woman who desperately needs our help, check out Clay and Eli’s seminar this Sunday, and if you’re able to, don’t forget to donate to Cassidy Foster’s GoFundMe.
The seminar will be posted on Clay Mayfield’s Facebook page, which you can check out here.
