2015 American Nationals No-Gi: Puopolo, Black, Miyaos among champions; other results

summer promoOther than the super-match between Roger Gracie and Rodrigo Comprido, day 1 of the American Nationals also featured the most important no-gi divisions.

Both male and female black belt open class champions were crowned.

James Puopolo defeated Eliot Kelly for the gold medal while Sarah Black beat Amanda Loewen for the absolute title.

Other than the open class divisions, the weight categories also had thrilling matches.

Brothers João Miyao (light-feather) and Paulo Miyao (feather) topped their divisions.

Guybson Sá (super-heavy), Inácio Neto (heavy) and Darragh O Conaill (middle) also walked out of the UFC Fan Expo with their gold medals.

In the teams competition, Gracie Barra won the main trophy with 218pts.

Zenith BJJ (72pts) and Carlson Gracie Team (62pts) completed the podium.

Day 2 this Saturday will feature the Gi divisions and the kids divisions as well.
