Many people responded negatively to the video saying I shouldn’t treat women in BJJ different than men in BJJ.
That we are equal and should be treating accordingly.
And in addition they said that for self defense purposes, I wasn’t preparing women properly.
As a coach for a decade. I can assure you that women and men are biologically not the same.
And typically speaking their societal conditioning isn’t either.
While there are men who are less physically imposing than some women.
For the most part. Men are large and more physically imposing than women.
And keeping that in mind I personally attempt to give women a chance to learn without getting the crap kicked out of them in every training session.
And just to be clear. This is the training method I use with all the people that come into the gym to take on Brazilian Jiujitsu. Men and women.
And when it comes to BJJ for self defense. The stress tolerance BJJ builds takes time!
The techniques of BJJ are useless if they are not accompanied with the ability to handle stress in physical confrontations.
You may know lots of techniques, but what can you do when faced with another person who tries to fight back?
Most people, men or women, are not equipped for that situation. Even if they think they are. And so building people up slowly allows us to build up someone properly.
I hope this video clears things up and makes sense.
