Neck injuries are no joke and as I share in the video. So if you have a neck injury and decide to do Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. I would definitely consult a doctor and proceed with caution.
1. If you decide to do BJJ with a neck injury. Don’t start rolling initially. Which might be hard because rolling is a lot of fun. But it will give you time to acclimate to the training.
2. When you do start rolling. Start with situational rolling initially so that you don’t get into unfamiliar positions. Many people in BJJ take damage or injure themselves when they get into unfamiliar positions.
3. When you do eventually roll at full speed. Don’t be overly competitive and be ready to tap if you feel anything on your neck. Many times people are very competitive and don’t want to tap. You have to be ready to tap early, especially if you have a neck injury.
