UFC strawweight fighter Zhang Weili has made history in the Octagon following her swift defeat of Jessica Andrade in the main event of UFC on ESPN+ 15 in Shenzhen, China.
Zhang, who’s 20-1 in her professional MMA career and undefeated in her four fights for the UFC, wasted no time in raining punishment onto now-former strawweight champion Andrade, hitting her with punches, elbows, and knees until the referee called the fight in just 42 seconds into the first round.
The win was impressive on its own, but even more so when you consider that this victory makes Zhang the first-ever Chinese UFC champion.
