The young purple belt who has been kicking everyone’s *** is now the young brown belt who is kicking everyone’s ***.
William Tackett, a standout from Brazilian Fight Factory, proved himself to be an emerging forcing in the sport at JitzKing’s event back in July 2019, taking out a 16-man bracket of combined high belts to win the promotion’s title. He also won the London Open, made the podium of ADCC West Coast trials, and took home submission wins at F2W and Third Coast Grappling.
Tackett was most recently seen in a controversial matchup with Tex Johnson at the BJJ Fanatics Grand Prix, losing his match after Johnson appeared to illegally strike Tackett. Tackett is set to fight again soon, squaring off against black belt Vagner Rocha on January 24th’s JitzKing event in Miami, Florida.
The newly minted brown belt celebrated his promotion by shouting out teammate Kody Steele, who ascended to black belt alongside Tackett. Both are students of Professor Rodrigo Cabral:
