Not even two weeks after his sudden split with the UFC, Yoel Romero has found a new home.
According to ESPN, Romero is making the move to Bellator and will be fighting in the light heavyweight division; however, the contract hasn’t officially been signed yet.
Though the promotion hadn’t initially expressed interest in the fighter, ESPN reports that additional talks last week plus a move to the light heavyweight division allowed the company and the fighter to reach an agreement. A debut date or opponent has not yet been announced.
Romero was released from the UFC earlier this month unexpectedly following three consecutive losses. Still, his history — which includes an eight-fight winning streak — left many fans surprised by the split and hopeful that his fighting career would continue.
We’ll keep you updated with Romero’s post-UFC career.
