UFC veteran and newly signed Bellator fighter Yoel Romero was set to make his promotional debut at May 7’s Bellator 258, but he has been pulled from the fight and the Light Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament altogether.
The news was first reported by CBS Sports. The promotion confirmed the news on social media, saying that Romero, who signed with the company in December, did not clear pre-fight medical testing. They added that Romero would be eligible to reapply for clearance to compete “in a few months” and that they still planned to make his fight against Johnson happen in the future.

The bout was also set to be the promotional debut of Johnson, who also signed with Bellator in December. Bellator is currently looking for a replacement to face Johnson, as well as a replacement for Romero in the Grand Prix.
