Yoel Romero 2.7 Pounds Overweight, Can’t Win Title In Fight With Luke Rockhold At UFC 221

Try as he may, Yoel Romero just can’t win a UFC title.

The Soldier of God weighed in last night 2.7 pounds over, disqualifying him from winning the UFC Interim Middleweight Championship title if he beats Luke Rockhold tonight at UFC 221. Romero was unable to make weight after two tries.

The news was reported via MMA Fighting.

The fight tonight would have marked Romero’s second attempt in a row at a UFC Interim Middleweight title. His first came against reigning UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker in July 2017 at UFC 213.

Luke Rockhold couldn’t help make fun of his Cuban-born opponent for his inability to make weight:
