BJ Penn came in looking for his first win since 2010.
Unfortunately, he came up short.
His opponent, Mexico’s Yair Rodriguez, tagged Penn with huge kick after huge kick.

In his defense, Penn showed amazing resilience. In fact, he never showed any signs of pain throughout the first round.
However, early in Round 2, Rodriguez knocked BJ down with a hard right he landed after a missed front kick. As soon as Penn hit the floor, Yair swarmed in and landed hammer first after hammer first on his downed opponent. Again, The Prodigy showed excellent resilience, but after one-too-many punches, referee John McCarthy had no choice but to call a stop to the fight.
After his TKO victory, an enthusiastic Yair thanked the crowd in his native Spanish, then in English.
