World Master Championship: Formiga, Pé de Chumbo, Titi and more champions

Rafael Formiga with his double gold from the master 2 group.

On the second day of action in Las Vegas, this year’s edition of the World Master IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship brought another series of exciting matches.

Among the standouts in the master 2 age group, there were absolute champions Formiga (Soul Fighters) and Sarah Black (Nova União).

Rafael Formiga, the 2018 champion, returned this year to win double gold again, first beating Eduardo Bastos (NS Brotherhood) at middleweight and then beating Juninho Boi (FF Team) in the absolute final. Also standing out in this age group were GMIs Juninho Boi and Arthur Gogó (GFTeam), who took silver and bronze, respectively, in the light heavy division behind Felipe Simão “Cranivata.” Also victorious at master 2: Gabriel “Napão” Gonzaga, the former UFC athlete and BJJ world champion.

In the master 3 group, the absolute title went to Delson Pé de Chumbo (R1NG). This came just hours after he closed out the medium heavyweight final with Fábio Leopoldo. The absolute final saw Pé de Chumbo defeat Fabio Godoy (Demian Maia) and clench double gold. GMI Cristiano “Titi” Lazzarini, the leader of BH Rhinos, successfully defended his medium heavyweight title.
