The 2014 World Jiu-Jitsu Expo keeps announcing new attractions for its October 19-20 installment, at the Long Beach Convention Center.
The latest adition to the schedule is a superfight between Gianni Grippo and Augusto Tanquinho.
The two featherweights will battle under IBJJF rules in gi for 10 minutes.
Tanquinho talked about the challenge that made him go back to competing in the gi after being dedicated to his MMA career: “Gianni is one of the best competitors of our division. He recently got his black belt and has an amazing guard game. I believe it’s gonna be a great match and I’m looking forward to it. I hope to win it and maybe leave the crowd in doubt to whether I will return to the Worlds 2015 or not.”
Grippo also had something to say about the upcoming match: “”Tanquinho represents the top. He’s been the featherweight world champion. To compete against someone of this caliber would give me the chance to test what I’ve been working on. Where he’s been is where I want to be. Winning this particular superfight won’t put me there but it would be a great indicator of where I stand, where I’m capable of being.”
