The Who’s Number One (WNO) Championships are quickly taking shape. The two-day event scheduled for September 25-26 will feature five eight-person brackets consisting of the best no-gi grapplers in the world. FloGrappling has now released the full eight-woman bracket for women’s heavyweight division, and it is loaded with the best grapplers in the world. View the full women’s heavyweight field below.
Gabi Garcia is the most accomplished female grappler ever and the largest competitor in the field, so she will likely and rightfully be considered the favorite to win the division, but as she is coming off a loss to Nathiely De Jesus under WNO rules, and the rest of the bracket is filled with elite grapplers. Atos’ Rafaela Guedes is another accomplished competitor, but, like Garcia, she is coming off an upset loss to dark horse Erin Harpe. Harpe herself could make it deep into this bracket, as she has shown in her win over Guedes and a dominant win over Maggie Grindatti earlier this year that she can grapple at an incredible pace.
Another name to watch in this division is Ana Carolina Vieira. Although much of her accolades have come in the gi (three IBJJF world championships), she recently stepped back into no-gi competition with a bang, defeating fellow tournament competitor Elisabeth Clay at The Road to ADCC in July.
One potential dark horse to keep an eye on is longtime Submission Underground champion Amanda Loewen, who will be making her WNO debut at this event. The 10th Planet standout is a submission hunter and is coming off an impressive victory over Raquel Canuto.
