William Tackett Steps In To Face Lucas Barbosa At Road To ADCC After Craig Jones Breaks Hand

Craig Jones is out of the upcoming Road to ADCC event, but a new opponent has already been found for Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa.

William Tackett has now stepped up to face Barbosa in the event, which is set to take place in just a few days. Theirs will be a rematch; Barbosa won their first meeting via referee decision in the finals of Subversiv 4.

The switch took place after Jones, who was originally scheduled to face Barbosa, pulled out of the match after reporting that he broke his hand in training.

This won’t be the first time that the young Tackett has replaced Jones in a match. Back in April, he stepped in to face Tye Ruotolo at Who’s Number One after Jones had to withdraw due to complications connected with a COVID-19 vaccination. This will be the first time we’ve seen him in action since then.

Barbosa’s most recent match resulted in a controversial win against Matheus Diniz at BJJ Stars 6 after he appeared to go unconscious at the very end of the match due to a rear naked choke from Diniz. There was debate during and after the match as to whether Barbosa went out before or after time ran out.

The Road to ADCC will take place on Saturday, July 17, and can be streamed live on FloGrappling.
