Weekend grappling recap: High Rollerz 14, F2W 199 results and highlights

Although there weren’t any major jiu-jitsu events like Who’s Number One or Polaris over the weekend, the professional submission grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu scene never sleeps. On Saturday, High Rollerz 14 and Fight To Win 199 took place, and both featured a number of high-level competitors.

High Rollerz 14

The cannabis-friendly promotion High Rollerz held its 14th event in promotional history on Saturday. In the main event, defending High Rollerz champion Kevin “Remember the Name” Crane defeated ADCC silver medalist AJ Agazarm by decision after overtimes.

Crane was the more active grappler during the regulation period, regularly jumping into submission attempts from his feet. But Agazarm, who was giving up substantial size to Crane, proved to be a world-class escape artist, working his way out of several deep submissions.

And in the co-main event, current UFC flyweights Gillian Robertson and Cynthia Calvillo squared off. After a relatively inactive regulation period that saw Calvillo working from top, Calvillo was able to secure a takedown in sudden death overtime to earn the win and the High Rollerz title.

Fight To Win 199

Fight To Win 199 took place on Saturday, April 16, live from Sacramento, CA. In the main event, Elisabeth Bravo picked up a last-second armbar win over Elizabeth Mitrovic after a very close match that Mitrovic was likely on her way to winning. This was Bravo’s black belt debut; she will be a name to watch.

Elsewhere on the card, Legion American Jiu-Jitsu representatives Paige Ivette and Sloan Clymer both impressed. Ivette, a recent ADCC Trials silver medalist and a fast-rising star in the sport, picked up a dominant amrbar win over Joy Pendell. Clymer earned a a clear but competitive decision over Manny Rocha.
