The main event of UFC Fight Night 176 was tough to watch for those who were cheering for Walt Harris to win. The fighter has been through a lot over the past year, dealing with the disappearance and discovered homicide of his stepdaughter, Aniah Blanchard. Harris’ bout against Alistair Overeem began heavily in his favor, but Overeem ultimately took home the victory via second-round TKO.
While the loss was no doubt difficult for Harris, he had the support of his fans and even his opponent after the fight. Following the event, Harris put up a social media post assuring his followers that this wouldn’t be the last time we saw him fight.
“First let me thank @alistairovereem for sharing the octagon we me tonight… You’re a class act brother and a legend! Tonight wasn’t my night, but you best believe I will be back better! Thank to everyone for all your love and support can’t say it enough! We learn and grow! Baby girl… daddy loves you and I promise I will keep pushing! #ForeverAniah“
Hopefully Harris will be healed up and back in action soon.
