Fight fans will be disappointed at the news of Vinny Magalhaes’ withdrawal from the sixth edition of the Eddie Bravo Invitational. Magalhaes is an Abu Dhabi Combat Club champion, former Titan FC light heavyweight champion and UFC veteran. He broke his hand competing in WSOF 30 on April 2, 2016, although he did emerge victorious in his fight against Jake Heun.
The upcoming EBI6 had promised to be one of the highlights of the jiu-jitsu calender, with record prize money of fifty thousand dollars. Also, it featured an all star line up including fellow Abu Dhabi Combat Club champion Andre Galvao. A photo of Magalhaes’ broken hand has been posted online, and it is clear that the injury is too severe for him to consider competing. No mention has been made yet of who might replace him. Undoubtedly, this is a significant blow for the event organizers.
