After shining in the 2018/2019 season in the IBJJF, with double gold performances in the federation’s biggest events (Euro, Pan, Brazilian Nationals and Worlds), Victor Hugo, the jewel of Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu, is ready to fly higher. With nothing left to conquer as a brown-belt, he is about to be promoted — and will have some big challenges ahead.
The promotion is coming this week, and according to information obtained by Graciemag, Victor has received an invitation to fight in the over-99kg division at the 2019 ADCC Worlds, which is scheduled to take place in September in Long Beach. This puts him on a collision course with Marcus Buchecha, Braga Neto, Yuri Simões, João Gabriel Rocha and Roberto Cyborg — experienced black-belts, all of them.
Victor has also secured a spot at Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Moscow, where he is already properly signed up, for the first time, as a black-belt.
