Retired UFC middleweight champion and UFC Hall of Fame member Michael Bisping will be the lead actor in an upcoming boxing movie titled The Journeyman, according to Deadline.
The film, which will be adapted from Mark Turley’s book Journeymen, will star Bisping as Kenny “The Beast” Breen, described by Deadline as “an alcoholic, drug-abusing, past-his-prime journeyman boxer with a record of 11-85-0 who, after being diagnosed with neurological damage, continues his career on the small-hall circuit at grave risk to himself.”
This won’t be Bisping’s first acting role. He’s also acted in xXx: Return Of Xander Cage, Den Of Thieves, and Triple Threat, along with appearing as a guest on a number of TV series. He will also serve as one of the executive producers on The Journeyman.
The Journeyman has also brought on actual journeyman boxer Johnny Greaves as a technical advisor for the film. Dax Phelan will be directing the movie, which is set to be filmed in the UK.
The film has only just been announced, and as such, we don’t currently have an expected release date. However, we’ll keep you in the loop as updates become available.
