Following her recent loss to Roxanne Modaferi at UFC 246, Maycee barber still wants to be the youngest UFC world champion ever. This is well documented and known.
A few years ago she apparently wanted to be the youngest BJJ back belt in the world.
So the story goes that Maycee and her sister Emma were photographed wearing faded BJJ black belts while teaching kids BJJ classes.
Nothing goes more viral in the BJJ community than someone wearing a black belt that shouldn’t be.
The Barber family responded that those are karate black belts that the girls were wearing.
Karate belts are nothing like BJJ belts in design. The red bar with with white stripes is ours. To have two stripes on a BJJ black belt would mean that Maycee Barber would have to be 25 years old to have achieved that degree.
You could make black belt by 19 year old minimum if you were a prodigy and winning worlds with each new rank. It takes 3 years to get a stripe on your red bar. 19 + 6 = 25.
Maycee Barber is currently 21 years old. She will be 22 in May.
