UFC 216 was held this Saturday in Las Vegas. Out of the five bouts on the main card, four were decided via submission, and two of these were title fights.
Mara Borella vs. Kalindra Faria
Two ladies made their debuts in the UFC last night. Italy’s Mara Borella didn’t waste much time taking the back of Brazil’s Kalindra Faria, and from there she sank a rear naked choke.

Fabrício Werdum vs. Walt Harris
Brazil’s Werdum nearly didn’t fight, as his original opponent, Derrick Lewis, had to pull out just hours prior due to injury. After Walter Harris appeared as a possible replacement, Werdum accepted immediately and then prepared by watching one of Harris’s fights on the way to the arena.
Hard to say whether that helped, but in the end Werdum had taken the fight to the ground, taken the back and transitioned to an armbar in just one minute.

Demetrius Johnson vs. Ray Borg
Flyweight DJ made history as he surpassed Anderson Silva on number of title defenses. Ray Borg was dominated over four rounds. In the fifth, even though the fight was basically a lock, DJ grabbed Borg from the back, raised him as if to apply a suplex, and, with Borg still in the air, lassoed his arm and sank an armbar to awe the audience.

Tony Ferguson vs. Kevin Lee
The main event did not disappoint. Lee started out with effective striking. Ferguson responded with good ground attacks, but Lee defended well and had the best takedowns.
In the third out of five possible rounds, Ferguson attempted another one of his triangles, but this time his adjustment was on point. The student under Eddie Bravo now gets a shot at lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
