Teen BJJ star Tye Ruotolo will be back in action on the mats soon after a dynamite 2019. This time, the 16-year-old rising star will be taking his place on the Who’s #1 card, which is hosted by FloGrappling, against Jhonathan Pessanha.
The match will be part of a three-bout battle between Atos (Ruotolo’s team) vs. DreamArt (Pessanha’s team). The two purple belts will face off at lightweight, and while Ruotolo is the obvious favorite after a jaw-dropping run at ADCC that saw him make it all the way to the semifinals as an underdog, the highly ranked Pessanha is still a serious threat to Ruotolo and should be taken as such.
Ruotolo vs. Pessanha will contribute to an already exciting card that will feature Nicholas Meregali vs. Victor Hugo as the main event, with Keenan Cornelius vs. Roberto Jimenez taking up the co-main spot. Who’s #1 will take place on February 9 in Costa Mesa, CA, starting at 10:30 a.m. PST. You can watch the event live on FloGrappling.
