Traven celebrates return to competitions

GMA member Roberto Traven, from Atlanta, took part in the World Pro Cup New Jersey trials last February 5th.

Despite his 42 years of age, the Brazilian black belt made his way to the 182lb division semifinals, where he lost by one advantage. Before that, he defeated two opponents.

Two times world champion and ADCC absolute champion, Traven celebrated his own performance: “The experience was excellent. I was able to complete all the training program and the physical training, which was very hard. The hardest was to loose so much weight. The last time I weighed 182lb was when I was 15!”

Traven was also pleased to prove that BJJ is really an art form: “My performance showed that BJJ is so wonderfull that despite your age, it will always provide you with some amazing moments.”

The trials should not be the last we see of Traven competing: “If things go well, I might show up at the adult division of the JIBJJF Pan and Worlds”.
