On the heels of his sixth consecutive victory, Beneil Dariush has been booked for the biggest fight of his UFC career so far: a lightweight bout against Tony Ferguson at UFC 262.
MMA Junkie reported the news; the UFC has yet to formally announce the fight.
Ferguson, the former Interim Lightweight Champion, is currently on the first two-fight losing streak of his professional career following a TKO from Justin Gaethje in May last year and, more recently, a decision loss against Charles Oliveira at UFC 256. Prior to that, though, he was cruising on a twelve-fight winning streak with wins against names like Rafael dos Anjos, Donald Cerrone, and Anthony Pettis.
Dariush, a Romulo Barral black belt in BJJ, is on a six-fight winning streak himself, most recently winning a split decision against Diego Ferreira in February. His big win against Drakkar Klose at UFC 248 won him the “Comeback of the Year” award, and he’s recently taken home four “Performance of the Night” bonuses.
UFC 262 will take place on Saturday, May 15.
