Fans of TJ Dillashaw will have to wait a bit longer to see him back in action after the fighter had to pull out of his upcoming headliner against Cory Sandhagen due to an injury sustained while training.
Reporter C. Contreras Legaspi was the first to share the news.
Dillashaw later confirmed that he had to withdraw from the UFC Vegas 26 fight, saying that an accidental headbutt during training opened a cut on his head.
The fight is likely to be rescheduled for a later date. A strawweight fight between Michelle Waterson and Marina Rodriguez will now serve as the main event for the card.
Dillashaw was set to make his UFC return after voluntarily relinquishing the UFC bantamweight title and accepting a two-year suspension for a failed drug test. He was promoted to purple belt in BJJ alongside Bellator champ Juan Archuleta earlier this year.
Sandhagen’s last appearance in the Octagon ended with him knocking out Frankie Edgar with a flying knee just 28 seconds into the first round.
