This Is How Marcelo Garcia Became The Greatest Of All Time

After falling short at the Brazilian ADCC 2003 trials, Marcelo did not qualify for the ADCC. However, he was called in as a last minute replacement as a result of Denis Hallman pulling out.

Despite being an underdog, he was willing to compete in the stacked division which included Renzo Gracie and Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro. No one knew who Marcelo was, but he was ready to shock the world. He ends up finishing Kunioku, Shaolin, Olson by RNC and Renzo by points.

After placing gold in his 77KG division, Marcelo enters the Absolutes and submits Mike Van Arsdale in the first round. He then faces Marcio Cruz and loses via point in the quarterfinals.

Marcelo continues to compete and tears up the scene by winning 5 World titles, 4 ADCC titles, 3 Brazilian National titles and a Pan Ams tittle.

Marcelo is arguably the greatest submission grappler of all time and pound for pound the best in the world.
