Tonight’s UFC Fight Island 5 included a bout in the prelims that has set the MMA world ablaze, with the UFC labeling it the “KO of the year” and “the most unbelievable KO in UFC history.”
It’s hard to argue with the enthusiasm. The fight between Joaquin Buckley and Impa Kasanganay ended abruptly in the second round following a dramatic exchange between the two fighters. Kasanganay caught a kick from Buckley, holding onto his opponent’s ankle. But Buckley used the hold as an opportunity to throw a spinning back heel kick with his other foot, hitting Kasanganay where it counted and sending him backward onto the mat.
After the fight, Buckley said that he had practiced the move in training, but never had the chance to put it to use until that moment. The win improves his professional record to 11-3.
