One of the most anticipated grappling events of 2021, Third Coast Grappling 6, will take place on Saturday, April 3. The card features a stacked eight-man absolute tournament with some of the best grapplers in the world and $20,000 in total prize money on the line. Check out the full event line-up, preview and everything else you need to know below.
The eight-man tournament is filled with world champions and elite competitors from long-time veterans to young phenoms. Team Atos representative and ADCC champion Kaynan Duarte finds himself as the odds-on favorite, and rightfully so. He already holds wins over fellow competitors Tex Johnson and Nick Rodriguez, and is fresh off a dominant run at the 2020 Pans.
Massive heavyweight Victor Hugo is only slightly less-favored than Duarte. Outside of a 2020 upset loss to Erich Munis, Hugo has looked like one of the most dangerous grapplers in the world, as he couples his size with shocking mobility and athleticism. Hugo’s first-round match-up is an interesting one, as he’ll square off with phenom William Tackett. Tackett is a brand new black belt but an established elite competitor with wins over Tex Johnson and fellow tournament participant Manuel Ribamar.
Submission Underground champion Mason Fowler might be the tournament’s dark horse. He had a breakout year in 2020 with a pair of wins over Craig Jones under EBI rules and is coming off a submission win over veteran Richie Martinez. If he can get past no-gi world champion Manuel Ribamar in the first round, he’ll have to deal with much bigger opponents in the semifinals and finals.

The tournament winner will go home with $15,000 in prize money, and the runner-up with $5,000. The card kicks off at 9 PM EST on Fite TV pay-per-view for $14.99.
