In the finals of EBI’s first Combat Jiu-Jitsu event, Nick Honstein submitted Chad George via Twister to become the first EBI Bantamweight Combat Champion

Although combat jiu jitsu has existed for about four years, it was not particularly well-known until the recent Eddie Bravo Invitational. The event featured a CJJ match involving four men. It permitted palm strikes.
This new form of jiu jitsu drastically changed the fight. All actions involved significant levels of risk. The rule differences largely benefited fighters who were in top positions. Some traditionally dominant positions like closed guard became less desirable.
All four contenders seemed unaccustomed to combat jiu jitsu, but this increased the level of excitement and made the match more interesting. This modified version of jiu jitsu has truly benefited the sport.
