Midwest Finishers Sub-Only will be holding their second event on June 22 to crown a welterweight champion. This event features a 20-man 175lb bracket with the winner taking home $2,500. The event is being held at 10th Planet – Lombard in Lombard, Illinois.
The bracket will feature athletes like 18-year-old purple belt and IBJJF No-Gi Champion William Tackett of Brazilian Fight Factory, who is coming off a strong showing at IBJJF Worlds. Tackett’s last appearance at the event resulted in victory at his superfight, and now, he’ll be looking to cement his place as the promotion’s standout athlete.
Also included in the bracket is Quintet veteran and Onnit Invitational 9 medalist David Garmo of Assembly BJJ who will look to take the crown to and ride the momentum from the win into Combat Jiu-Jitsu Worlds in August.
The tournament will also feature various super fights that will include athletes like Tackett’s 16-year-old brother Andrew, a blue belt, who will be facing off against pro-MMA fighter and purple belt David Garcia of Apex House of Grappling in an open-rank 155lb match. The younger Tackett is coming off a silver medal performance at IBJJF Worlds and looks to keep moving in a winning direction with a victory here.
The event will stream live, and free, on Midwest Finisher’s YouTube page starting at 6 PM CST on June 22nd.
