The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Tour is gearing up for it’s return and the start of the 2020/21 season, already moving both the location and date of the event in order to continue the season. The event has changed location from Los Angeles and will now be held in the Miami Airport Convention Centre in Miami instead, also moving to the weekend of September the 26th and 27th as well. The change was necessitated by the difference between how each US state is coping with the Coronavirus pandemic and the fact that Florida is further along the timeline of reopening after a total economic shutdown than California is at present.
This will be the first of five events in the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Tour, with the remaining four tentatively scheduled for Moscow, Rio De Janieiro, London and of course, Abu Dhabi itself. The previous season also ended in the tournament’s namesake city back in January 2020, when they also put on a special Queen Of The Mats event featuring six of the best female grapplers competing in a Round Robin format for the coveted title. While it’s too early to say who will be competing throughout the course of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Tour 2020/21, the tournament regularly features some elite grapplers like the two biggest names in mainland Europe right now, Tommy Langaker and Adam Wardzinski.
