Fight 2 Win is set to have its 123rd event tonight in Sacramento, CA, and they’ve built a lineup that’s made for a can’t-miss event. With a powerful main event and an undercard comprised of some of jiu-jitsu’s best local talent, this is a show worth watching from beginning to end no matter what coast you’re on.
Here are our top five matches you need to see on FloGrappling this evening:
5. Troy Everett vs. Rich Flores
Everett, a member of Team No Sleep itself, is increasing his record for the highest number of Fight 2 Win matches tonight as he jumps in against Flores. Everett has proven himself a versatile competitor who’s always up for a challenge, often taking matches on extremely short notice. He most notably won a match against former UFC fighter Chris Leben, but even he’s going to find a challenge in Flores, who’s a brown belt under Marcos Torregrosa. The head coach and owner of Stockton Jiu-Jitsu, he’s a regular medalist at IBJJF events. This match will be a serious test for both brown belts, and you’d be advised to tune in early to make sure you don’t miss it.
4. Felipe Bezerra vs. Max Gimenis
This black belt battle will take place at super heavyweight in the gi, and you can bet that these two will shake things up on the stage. Bezerra is not only an accomplished BJJ athlete, having won Brazilian Nationals last year, but also a judo black belt. He’ll need the best of his skills from both arts to beat Gimenis, who has accumulated his own impressive resume in jiu-jitsu that includes a win at last year’s Chicago Summer Open and a silver medal at least year’s No-Gi Pans. Both of these athletes are really starting to come into their own, and they’ll be eager to prove themselves tonight in Sacramento.
3. Cassio Werneck vs. Angel Lopez
Fight 2 Win events are known for giving impressive local fighters the star treatment, and these two California favorites certainly deserve the spotlight they’re getting as the co-main event of the evening. Theirs will be a Masters Welterweight Gi title match, and with both athletes having taken home World Championship titles during their time as black belts (and Werneck having an additional five World Master titles), the fight is sure to give all the fans in Sacramento the battle they’ve been hoping for.
2. Jose Carlos Lima vs. Samir Chantre
In a match that will hopefully provide the quick action that featherweight competitors are known for, this gi title match will see two of the top athletes in their division go head-to-head right before the co-main event. Lima is a truly underrated competitor who had an impressive win at the 2018 UAEJJF World Pro and multiple UAEJJF Grand Prix wins throughout the world. Chantre is an extremely decorated competitor, having won No-Gi Worlds three times, No-Gi Pans twice, and No-Gi American Nationals a stunning four times. They’ll both be hoping to show their potential on stage tonight, and with a title on the line, we’re sure to see the best of what they have to offer.
1. Dante Leon vs. Gabriel Arges
The main event for F2W 123 has generated a lot of hype, and it’s easy to see why. Leon is a young up-and-comer who has already proven himself to be one of the Next Big Things in the sport by winning No-Gi Pans in both 2017 and 2018. Arges has long been established as one of the top BJJ athletes of his generation, and he reminded everyone of this when he won Worlds for the third time this year. This 185lb no-gi match is guaranteed to provide the fireworks that spectators both at the event and watching at home have been itching to see.
