T.J. Dillashaw Speaks On His EPO Use: “I Messed Up”

“I understand the criticism and scrutiny coming my way,” T.J. Dillashaw told fans in a personal video posted to his Instagram on April 12th. The missive is Dillashaw’s first act of public contrition after being dealt a two year USADA suspension following news that he’d tested positive for the performance enhancing substance EPO. The fighter has subsequently been stripped of his UFC bantamweight title, and states he will not fight the decision.

Looking under-rested and inflamed, arm in a sling from recent shoulder surgery, Dillashaw went on to directly acknowledge the damage his choice has caused those who participated in his training camps:

“What I really feel bad about is bad light I’m bringing on my coaches, my family, my teammates. They had no involvement in this and I feel the worst for them…I gotta man up to what I did.

Anyone I let down, obviously my family, my coaches, my teammates. I can’t say sorry enough for stuff that you’re dealing with because of me. But this isn’t the end of me. I’ll be back.”
