Sub Spectrum 9 will be here before we know it, and if you live around Iowa or are willing to do some traveling, you could win up to $1,000 in their Women’s 145lb Championship.
The promotion is looking for female jiu-jitsu athletes to fill up their division, and while they already have plenty of interested applicants, competitors hoping to add another big win to their resume and earn some dollars in the process should consider signing up.
The quarterfinals and semifinals of this no-gi event will take place on May 30 during the Des Moines Open III, which will be open to gi and no-gi kid, teen, adult, and master competitors and take place in a round-robin format. Once two finalists make it through, they and the two women they’d defeated in the semifinals will come back later in the evening to compete on the Sub Spectrum 9 main card. The division will be open to blue belts and above, with all submissions legal, and follow the Sub Spectrum Pro rules.
There’s some serious cash to be found in this division as well — the third place winner will receive $125, the runner-up will get $375, and the first-ever champion for the 145lb division will take home $1,000.
Interested competitors can apply here until April 5. Sub Spectrum 9 will take place on May 30 at Franklin Jr. High in Des Moines, Iowa.
