In Jiu-Jitsu there’s a plethora of attack variations from side-control. Thiago Maia, a black belt on SAS team, took the time to demonstrate one of the most effective attacks from the position, exclusively for GRACIEMAG.com readers.

Capitalizing on the opponent slipping up with his arm, he latches on to it and rushes to to position himself over his opponent’s head. From there he can slap on a Kimura or drop back for the armbar.

“The trick is to push his hand towards his back. If you prefer, you can fake going for the Kimura and then stretch out his arm.”
