The weekend is nearly upon us, and that means so is Fight 2 Win 110 in Cleveland.
This event has a first ever as far as Fight2Win competitions go: a special purple belt gi match between former UFC champion and top-ranked UFC heavyweight Stipe Miocic and Aaron Howard. Both men are civil servants — Miocic a firefighter and Howard a policeman. Miocic will be donating his purse to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
This will mark the first time that F2W has had a UFC champion on one of their cards, and Miocic is a special one because he set the record for title defenses in the heavyweight division, defending his title three times before losing it. It’s a loss that fans are excited to see him avenge.
I had an opportunity to chat with Stipe at Strong Style Training Center last night about his thoughts on the matchup, and more specifically, training in the gi.
Tune in this Saturday night either live at the NEO Sports Plant in Cleveland Ohio or on FloGrappling to watch Miocic’s match and many more at Fight 2 Win 110.
