On June 18th, Stephen Thompson defeated Rory MacDonald via decision after a closely fought match in Ottawa, Canada.
UFC Fight Night 89 got off to a slow start as both men tried to feel out the other fellow. Things picked up a little bit during round two and three, with some great leg kicks, jabs, and both fighters being pressed against the cage.
However, it was really only during the fourth round that things began to really heat up, and McDonald just couldn’t keep up with Thompson, not only losing the match, but ending up with a bloody and messy nose. Final score: 50-45, 50-45, 49-46.
