With big names of the international BJJ scene present, this Saturday, Spyder Invitational BJJ Championship held in Seoul held its quarterfinal stage.
A total of 16 athletes fought eight matches split into two weight divisions (under and over 76kg), with the special addition of a no-gi superfight between Ben Henderson, a former lightweight UFC champion, and veteran Eduardo Telles.
Paulo Miyao beat Matheus Gabriel, and Kaynan Duarte beat Matheus Godoy. Additionally, a few upsets spiced things up. Johnata Alves, a brown-belt, defeated sitting world champion Shane Hill-Taylor in the under-76kg division. In the other division, brown-belt Vitor Hugo defeated 2018 BJJ Worlds finalist Tommy Langaker.
The Asian contingent did phenomenally well, with Isung Jang beating AJ Agazarm and Masahiro Iwasaki achieving a sweep on Hugo Marques right at the end. In the superfight, Ben Henderson used a nice takedown right at the start to beat Telles 2-0. To check out the best plays of the event, visit us on Instagram.
