The Jiu-Jitsu Times‘ very own Emil Fischer took part in a recent Grappling Industries event in Columbus, Ohio.
As anyone who has seen his videos or read his articles knows, Emil can certainly generate controversy. Unfortunately, for his opponents, he can back all of it up, particularly with his incredible ground game.
In this video, Emil — though a purple belt — can be seen competing in the brown belt division of Grappling Industries. If his poor brown belt opponent had any hopes of picking up an easy win, he was sorely mistaken. Emil hit the ground and pulled off a sick Imanari roll and, after a brief struggle, finished the match with an Achilles lock.
His opponent didn’t look too pleased.

#dontblinkMatch 1 of 2 in the brown belt gi division of yesterday's Grappling Industries tournament down in #Columbus #Ohio. I wanted to try a gi legal Imanari roll, a la Masakazu Imanari and figured that because this tournament allows reaping in the gi i wouldn't be risking a DQ. I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I went on to win the next 3 matches against this opponent with 3 different submissions, taking gold in gi and no gi As always, shoutouts to Ludwig VAN whose dope streetwear I wear before and after competing, Hydrus Performance Hydration whose products keep me going, and to my sponsors Gladiator Soap, Impact Mouthguards, Cleveland Cryo, Code Chiro, Valor Fightwear USA/Valor Fightwear, Pony Club Grappling Gear, Meerkatsu and The Original Amy Joy Donuts, as well as my teammates from Strong Style Training Center, and my coaches.#bakingcookiestakinglimbs #fryingfritters #justapurplebelt #yellowgiofdoom #emilkatsu #jiujitsulifestyle #bjj #grappling #brazilianjiujitsu #breakdance #jiujitsu #martialarts #blessed #teamstrongstyle #ludwigvan #StrongStyleBrasa #gladiatorsoap #impactmouthguards #northsouthjiujitsu #ClevelandCryo216 #codechiro #valorfightwear #valorfightwearusa #AmyJoyDonuts #PCGG #PonyClubGrapplingGear #Meerkatsu
